Who we are
Duofolios (“we”, “us”) makes the Duofolios app at app.duofolios.com and this website at duofolios.com. We’re based in Canada. You can reach us at hello@duofolios.com.
The short version
- The Duofolios app keeps your financial information on your own device. We never receive it.
- If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address and the features you’re interested in, to email you about them.
- We don’t use cookies or advertising trackers, and we never sell or rent personal information.
The Duofolios app
The accounts, balances and settings you enter are saved in your browser’s storage on your device. They are not sent to us, and we have no way to see them. If you set up App Lock, the passkey or PIN also stays on your device.
To show your totals in both currencies, the app requests the day’s exchange rate from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev), a public service that publishes European Central Bank reference rates. That request contains no personal or financial information, but like any web request it reveals your IP address to that service.
When you open the app, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts the visit, as it does on this website (see “Page counts” below). It records the page, browser, device type and country, uses no cookies, and never receives anything you’ve entered in the app.
Because we don’t hold your data, we can’t recover it for you. You can download a backup from the app at any time, and delete everything by clearing the app’s data in your browser.
This website
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we collect:
- your email address;
- the features you ticked, and whether you signed up on the website, in the app or from a tool;
- the wording you agreed to and the date and time you agreed, as a record of your consent.
We use this only to email you about Duofolios: when the features you picked are ready, and occasional product news. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and then remove them within 30 days.
Page counts
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t build a profile of you, and doesn’t track you across other websites.
Server logs
Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. We don’t use this to identify visitors.
Cookies
This website doesn’t set cookies.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website and app, stores waitlist sign-ups, and provides page counts.
- An email service provider (we plan to use Kit) will send waitlist emails. We’ll update this page when it’s connected.
- Frankfurter provides exchange rates to the app, as described above.
These providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to local laws. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to Canadian privacy law.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent to emails at any time. Email hello@duofolios.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Duofolios isn’t intended for people under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll tell waitlist members by email before it takes effect.
