This page explains how the app protects your data. For what we collect on this website, like waitlist emails, and your rights, see our privacy policy.
Where your data lives
Duofolios is a web app that saves everything in your browser’s own storage, on the phone or computer you’re using. There’s no Duofolios account and no server that receives your balances. If you use Duofolios on your phone and your laptop, each one keeps its own separate copy.
What leaves your device
- Today’s exchange rate. The app asks Frankfurter, a free service that publishes the European Central Bank’s reference rates, for the CAD to INR rate. The request says nothing about you or your accounts, though like any web request the service can see your IP address.
- The app itself. Your browser downloads Duofolios from our host, Cloudflare. That request carries none of your data.
- A visit count. When you open the app, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts the visit: which page, the kind of browser and device, and the country. It uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you, and it never sees your accounts or balances. It’s how we know whether people find Duofolios useful.
That’s all. There are no ad trackers or crash reporters inside the app, and nothing it sends contains your accounts or balances.
App Lock
You can ask Duofolios to require Face ID, Touch ID, your device PIN or a Duofolios PIN every time it opens. It uses passkeys, the same sign-in technology banks now use, and your fingerprint or face never leaves your device.
App Lock encrypts your data. With it on, everything Duofolios saves on your device is encrypted (AES-256), with a key only your Face ID, Touch ID or PIN can unlock. When you set it up you also get a recovery code, the only way back in if you forget your PIN, so keep it somewhere safe. With App Lock off, your data still never leaves your device, but it isn’t encrypted.
Backups
Because your data lives on one device, clearing your browser’s data or losing your phone erases it. Save a backup from the app’s settings and keep it somewhere safe, like your own cloud drive. Backups are password-protected unless you switch that off, and the app reminds you when it’s been a while.
On an iPhone, install the app
Safari can clear a website’s storage if you don’t open it for a week. Adding Duofolios to your Home Screen avoids that. How to install Duofolios.
On this website
- The waitlist. If you join, we keep your email address, the features you picked, and the date you agreed to hear from us. Details are in our privacy policy.
- Page counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without following you around the web.
- No ad pixels, no cookies, and nothing from YouTube or social networks loads until you click a link.
What we’ll never do
- Ask for your bank login, password or OTP.
- Sell or rent your data, or show you ads.
- Turn on cloud sync without asking. When it arrives it will be optional, end-to-end encrypted so we can’t read it, and something you switch on yourself.
